How much Nimoy? How much time in the parallel universe? How much Charlie Francis? What about this new chick? Fringe fans have questions, and at yesterday’s Fringe panel for the Television Critics Association, the Fringe crew gave answers.  Here is the lowdown on some of the details to come out of the Fringe panel. Mild spoilers ahead.

  • Leonard Nimoy has filmed one episode for season 2 so far, would be welcome for more [implying no more are scheduled], and does not appear in the premiere. (Boo!).
  • Episodes will venture into the alternate universe, and there is a definite dynamic between the two – what happens in one ripples into the other. However! [Spoken with Walter like zeal] Fringe will not be shifting into a more demanding mythology.
  • The ending of the season premiere will shock and destroy you, demanding full attention.
  • Agent Jessup (who is played by Meghan Markle) is a gateway character of sorts, making the premiere more accessible for newbies.
  • The Charlie situation is still being treated like the project dossier for Area 51.  Mysterious statements continue to be made like that those of us who think we know what is going on with Acevedo/Charlie are dead wrong, and that Charlie is going through some ‘changes.’  Less than reassuring for Charlie fans.
  • Good news!  Walter will not get “better,” meaning don’t expect him to get more and more lucid as time goes on.  That is all beneath him. Do expect him to gain more freedom, though, which should open all sorts of interesting opportunities for him.
  • The writers have nick-named the alternate dimension “Over There.”
  • The idea that there may be a Walter from the alternate dimension is search of his Peter is very accurate.
  • Olivia will be the only one traveling back and forth between dimensions initially.
