Good news Fringe fans! FOX has just renewed its best series for a third season. That means one more year of Fringe is coming our way after season two wraps up in May.
Fringe has been sort of “on the bubble” due to its mediocre ratings and viewership, but it’s likely that critical praise and heavy DVR viewership helped to push it through the difficult timeslot it found itself in.
Whatever the case was, Fringe managed to pull it off against all odds, and managed to avoid the television reaper which has been scythe-swinging like nobody’s business. Lie to Me, FOX’s other “bubble” series, still has an undecided fate, but chances are looking good for it as well.
But whatever the case, Fringe’s renewal has guaranteed a survival for post-LOST network sci-fi, and I couldn’t have picked a better show to pick up the torch.
Fringe returns April 1 with the mythology episode “Peter.” This time, we can watch with less anxiety knowing that the series won’t be nearing the end.
