1×04 / 2×13: Have We Seen Robert Bishop’s Grave?
In “The Bishop Revival,” we get quite a bit of exposition on grandfather Bishop, a former Nazi who emigrated to the United States in 1943, changing his surname from Bischoff to Bishop. But could he have died a year later?
The answer is most likely yes, thanks to a little bit of a mention in season one that ties it all together. In the fourth episode of the series, “The Arrival,” Peter is kidnapped by an assassin who is looking to steal the Beacon (a mysterious device that we’re still not sure the use of), and he is taken to a cemetery, where he is told to dig. But what grave marker does his flashlight fall upon? None other than a Robert Bishop, who apparently died in 1944.
“Shame you never met him,” the assassin tells Peter. Walter will later echo the sentiment in “The Bishop Revival.”
What does this mean? Is there some connection (besides their obvious family ties) between Peter and Robert that remains unexplained? And how exactly did the assassin know about Robert, if Robert died in 1944?
