1×04: Robert Bishop

1x4_2008-10-01_08-50-54-38-lgAt the end of The Arrival, Peter is taken to a cemetery by the shooter, John Mosley, and we find that the object was hidden at the grave of a Robert Bishop.

The dates listed on the tombstone are August 21, 1912 – December 11, 1944.  At first thought one would probably guess that this person is Walter Bishop’s father, however, in the pilot episode Agent Dunham hands Walter’s file to Broyles and says, “born in ‘46.”  This means that Robert Bishop died at the age of 32, two years before Walter was born.  Due to Robert being 32, it also means that its highly unlikely that Robert is Walter’s grand-father, as well (Robert would have had to have been 16 years old when Walter’s father was born, and Walter’s father would had to have been 16 when Walter was born as well.  Possible, but given the timeframe, unlikely).

So who is Robert Bishop and how is he related to Walter?  Is he just some distant uncle or cousin?  Or is it possible that the producers of the show made such a huge blunder?  I have to doubt the second, but if true I hope that it’s clarified very quickly.  So let us know who you think Robert might be.
