Nobody’s really sure what the deal is with Slusho!, except that it’s popping up everywhere inside the world of J.J. Abrams (and sometimes outside). Originally part of the marketing campaign for the film Cloverfield (in the months leading up to the film’s release some hypothesized that mass quantities of the drink created the monster). However, this was disproven by the film having almost no mention of the drink. However, that hasn’t stopped it from popping up some more — it appeared several times throughout Heroes‘ second season, and already appeared once on Fringe; Charlie’s body-snatcher drank some mercury from a Slusho! cup in “Momentum Deferred.”
Slusho! had a cameo in this week’s episode as well, in the form of a poster in the convenience store robbed by Tyler and his puppets. We actually saw some of the bright red liquid brewing in a container behind the desk.
