References to Peter’s cross-over was made allusion to in the following episodes:

– When Walter visited the ‘original’ Peter’s grave in Season 1, following the death of David Robert Jones. Season 1, Finale.
– When Peter was having nightmares about seeing his dad, then being abducted late at night (which might refer to his memory of being taken by Walter from the other side) in Season 2, Episode 5 (I think).
– When the ‘lady in the video’ (Rebecca) who was dosed by hallucinogens saw a “glow” coming from Peter when she was able to get into her car (with Walter) in Season 2, Episode 4.

I don’t think that the Observers are from the alternate dimension…at least, not from the SAME alternate dimension that Olivia visited. I think that they are a third party, more powerful than either of the factions in the coming war, and that they seek to profit somehow from the conflict.

I’m guessing they are either humans from a third (and very, VERY technologically advanced) dimension, or else aliens. After the episode Earthling, we know that there ARE aliens in the Fringe universe, so the observers could be some. Its possible that they are both: a non-human species from another, more distant dimension. I suspect that they are descended from humans to at least some extent, though; the baby observer in Season One seemed to be very much like us physiologically (ie, he wasn’t a lizardman in a suit ).

Also, did anyone notice that the observer’s ray gun in the trailer for August looked a lot like the one the bad guy had in The Arrival? I suspect that their technology came from the same place, wherever that may be.

Fred, thank you for your commentary. Can you tell me which episode tells viewers that Walter’s son died and was brought over from the other side? I would love to see it because somehow I missed it. I’m not trying to be rude or funny; I just didn’t know. Any info would greatly be appreciated. I thought I remembered every episode. thank you, I really enjoyed your comments. You should be a writer; you’re good.

One thing to consider is that an apparent ‘child observer’ is found underground in season one. How this will tie into the rest of the hairless group? I have no idea.

Another option. The observers are the same typ eof biomecchanical android as the shape shifting killers and they have an estimated maximum “lifespan” of about one month. Thus each replacement is given the name of the month they are considered viable. They may remain functioning afterthat month which could explain how you can see more than one.

I’m not sure that they are tied to William Bell. Given that in the two universes are almost duplicates I would expect peple from here to have analogs over there. We know that Peter was brouht over from over there to replace the Walter Prime’s son that died as a child. (I suspect that the trip back and forth is what caused Walter Prime’s mental problems) Perhaps the real villian on the second side is Walter Second. He has a very real reason for wanting to break down the barrier.
