Sam Weiss, the mysterious character introduced in season two, will be back in season three, according to TVOvermind:
Season three keeps looking better and better. Since Spoiler Guy has gone missing (nobody knows where he is), it’s up to the rest of us at TVOvermind to pick up the slack where he left off. And that just happens to include Fringe spoilers, a task I took up with absolute glee.
So as I was saying, season three just keeps looking better and better. Not only has Olivia’s mother been cast in a recurring role for the third season (and she’s Iris from Carnivale!), but we’re apparently going to see the return of another recurring character who I like a lot. Got any guesses? He popped up in early season two, and continued recurring throughout the season. That’s right, Mr. Miyagi! Sam Weiss!
“As foreshadowed by the chalkboard anagram in Walternate’s lab in the season finale, Sam Weiss(a.k.a. actor Kevin Corrigan) will make an appearance or two (or more) in season 3,” Entertainment Weekly’s Michael Ausiello reported.
The bowling guru will be back in some capacity, which is very interesting. Considering that Olivia is trapped “Over There” and Weiss is over here, looks like he’ll be talking to somebody different — unless we see alternaSam, which would be totally great. Maybe we’ll find out what exactly this enigmatic figure’s motivations are, anyway. There’s obviously something very, very different about him.
In any case, let’s hope that “appearance or two” turns into more. The character is one of my favorite aspects of Fringe mythology, and I’d love to find out just where he fits into all of it — or where he fits into season three, at least.
Fringe will return in September.
